Creating a Prize Item

Items

Items are a prize type that allows users to redeem if they have enough available points to cover the cost that you set to receive it. This is great for tangible merchandise, hoodies, jerseys, novelty items, etc.

Redemption Methods

You can choose for items to be redeemed with four methods:

  • Spend Points to Redeem - the number points needed for the item will be spent from the user's available point balance after redemption
  • Unlock with Points to Redeem - once you hit a certain point threshold (i.e 500 points) that user will qualify for that prize and can redeem it without spending their points. A good strategy for lower point items if you want to allow for fans to continue to earn points to spend them for some higher point items. Some Kids Clubs have decided to have all items as "unlock" with points.
  • Credit Card Purchase - *Stripe account must be set-up and connected in the Admin here* - Allows for users to purchase an item via credit card. Could be useful for high value items that you prefer to charge people for.
  • Credit Card or Spend Points - This option allows fans to redeem their prize with a credit card purchase or their points

Tips for Items

If you are struggling to find prizes to add to your prize stores here are some ideas to get you started:

  1. Excess inventory from Your Team Store, Bookstore, or previous Giveaways - these could be bobbleheads, key chains, calendars, etc...
  2. Utilize your Partners - do you have partners that have excess inventory of giveaways (frisbees, water bottles, items with co-branded with your team, etc.), coupons or gift cards?
  3. Utilize Digital Code Delivery- these are the easiest way to fulfill an item in our store! Just load some valid digital codes into FanMaker and after a user redeems the prize they are given that code to enter into an app or website to earn their coupon or gift card. Whether it be a gift card or coupon to your own team store, or a digital code given to you by a Partner for their store or app, this can be an easy and convenient way to deliver great incentives to your users.

Utilizing Cash for Memberships or Points

Paying for a Membership - cash items can be beneficial if you want users to buy into a certain membership level in order to obtain exclusive prizes, experiences etc. This can occur so that after you buy the prize, you are automatically enrolled into that membership level. There are options to make this a recurring membership, a yearly rolling membership (will expire 365 days after purchase) or a membership that expires after a certain time

Paying for Points - you can offer for your users to purchase points that they can utilize to redeem items, enter sweepstakes, or bid with on an auction. This can be a nice option for fans to purchase an experience or item they really want and also provides you with an additional revenue stream.
