Earning Attendance Points - Best Practices

Best Practices on points for attending games, watching on TV and promo codes

Attending and Watching Games

Turn Every Game Into a Loyalty Moment

With Fanmaker, attending or watching games becomes more than just a fan experience, it becomes a measurable action that strengthens fan engagement and drives real results.

Fans earn points by:

  • Attending home games (tracked via ticket scans, GPS, Bluetooth beacon, or our API)

  • Watching live broadcasts on TV or digital platforms

  • Listening to radio or streaming audio

  • Arriving early and staying late—each with bonus incentives

Key Benefits for Your Program

  • Boost Attendance Across All Events: Incentivize high-visibility matchups and support low-demand games with flexible point values.

  • Drive Concession & Merchandise Revenue: Award Early Arrival Bonus points to encourage pre-game purchases.

  • Keep Fans Engaged Through the Final Whistle: Use the Stay Late Bonus to improve crowd retention and atmosphere.

  • Unlock Granular Fan Insights: Track attendance by name, arrival time, dwell time, and more.

Where These Are Set

Everything below lives on the event itself, under Events › Events:

  • Attendance Points and the Attendance Window are in the Attendance & Points section.

  • Early Arrival Bonus and Stay Late Bonus sit right below them. The Stay Late Bonus can be a flat amount for staying a set time, or Points Per Minute that scales with how long a fan is on site.

  • Per-Method Check-in Points — extra points for checking in by Beacon, GPS, API, or Ticket Scan — are under Advanced in that same section.

  • Initial Watch Points and Continue-watching intervals are in the Watch section.

Best Practices

We recommend the following structure to balance consistency and behavioral incentives, but can be tailored by sport, fan segment, or day of the week.
  • Attend a standard game → 100 points

  • Attend a low-demand game → 300 points

  • Attend a marquee game (1 per season) → Up to 1,000 points

  • Arrive 30+ minutes early → 50 bonus points

  • Stay through 75% of the game → 50 bonus points

  • Watch on TV → 25 points

  • Still watching after 1 hour → 25 additional points

  • Enter promo code from radio broadcast → 50 points

Tip: Layer Streaks on top of this. Every fan is already tracked on an all-events streak, so you can attach a reward at a threshold you choose and turn "showing up again" into something fans protect. See our Streaks article.

Proven Results

  • Florida State implemented these tactics across 300+ events and saw a 32% year-over-year increase in student attendance, often reaching capacity on Olympic sport bonus nights. Read more details on our blog.

  • Alabama leverages "stay late" points to keep fans in their seats late into football games, supporting coach Saban's push for strong in-game energy and helping deliver on TV viewership expectations. Watch our ESPN Segment.
