Sponsors

Set up scannable sponsor activations that award points and optional instant-win prizes, then track scan activity on each sponsor's insight page.

Sponsors let you set up scannable sponsor activations that award fans points — and optionally an instant-win prize — then see exactly how much each sponsor is being scanned.

Sponsors is only available on programs that have it enabled. If you don't see the section in your menu, talk to your Fanmaker contact.

You'll find it in the admin under Point Earning › Sponsors: app.fanmaker.com/admin/engagement/sponsors

What a sponsor does

A sponsor is a scan activation. A fan's barcode is scanned at the sponsor, and the sponsor awards points for it. On top of that you can layer an instant win: a percentage of scans are winners, capped at a maximum number per day, with a message telling the winner what to do next — and optionally a prize attached to the win.

Each sponsor also carries its own artwork: a logo, and a background image for kiosk display.

The sponsor list

The Sponsors page lists every sponsor on your program with:

  • Name

  • Points / Scan

  • Instant Win — the winning rate as a percentage, or Off

  • Scans (30d) — how many times it's been scanned in the last 30 days

  • Actions — Insight, Edit, Delete

That Scans (30d) column is the quickest read in the whole section: it tells you at a glance which sponsors are actually being used and which are sitting idle.

Clicking a sponsor's name or its Edit button both open the same sponsor page, which shows the stats and the edit form together.

Creating a sponsor

  1. Go to Point Earning › Sponsors.

  2. Click Add Sponsor.

  3. Fill in the form below.

  4. Click Create Sponsor.

Basic Settings

  • Name — required, and it has to be unique within your program.

  • Scan Text — required, up to 64 characters. It's prefilled with a suggestion along the lines of Earn 50 Points, so change it to match what you're actually offering.

  • Points per Scan — required, and must be at least 1.

Instant Win

Tick Enable Instant Win to reveal three more fields. All three are required once instant win is on:

  • Winning Rate (%) — between 1 and 99. The share of scans that win.

  • Max Winners (per day) — at least 1. A daily ceiling, so a hot activation can't run away from you. Once the sponsor is saved, this field also tells you how many winners are still remaining today.

  • Winning Message — what a winner is shown. It's prefilled with a default about showing the screen to an employee to collect the prize; edit it to match how you're actually redeeming.

Instant Win Prize

Separately from the instant win itself, you can attach a prize.

Tick Award a prize on instant win, then pick one from the Prize dropdown. There's also a Mark prize as completed on award checkbox if you want the prize marked off when it's handed out.

The Prize dropdown only lists free prizes — item prizes and sweepstakes prizes that cost nothing to claim. If it's empty, you'll see a note telling you to add a free prize first. Set that prize up before coming back here.

Sponsor Images

  • Logo — PNG only, transparent recommended. It's resized to 776 x 206.

  • Kiosk Background Image — JPG or PNG. It's resized to 1024 x 768.

If a sponsor already has an image, the current filename is shown above the file picker.

Editing a sponsor

Open a sponsor from the list and you get three tiles across the top:

  • Scans (30d)

  • Points per Scan

  • Winners Today

Below them is the same form you used to create it. Change what you need and click Save Sponsor.

Winners Today is worth watching if you've set a daily cap — it's the fastest way to see whether an activation has already hit its ceiling for the day.

There's also a Delete button at the top of the page, and one on each row of the sponsor list. Both ask you to confirm.

Reading the Insight page

Click Insight — from the sponsor list, or from the top of a sponsor's page — to open its scan history.

The Insight page covers the last 30 days and gives you:

  • A Scans (30d) total

  • A Daily Scan Activity chart

New versus Existing

The chart splits every day's scans into two series, and this split is the most useful thing on the page. The page labels them:

  • New — the first scan from that fan's barcode

  • Existing — a repeat fan

Read together, they tell you two different things about the same activation.

A tall New bar means the sponsor is drawing in fans who weren't already scanning — it's doing acquisition work. A tall Existing bar means fans who were already in the program are coming back to it, which is engagement rather than reach.

A sponsor with a healthy total but almost no New scans has saturated its audience; you're reaching the same people repeatedly. A sponsor that's nearly all New is pulling in fresh fans but not yet giving them a reason to return. Which of those you want depends on what the activation is for — but the chart is how you tell them apart, and a flat total alone won't.

If nothing has been scanned in the window, the chart says so rather than showing an empty grid.
