# Point Expiration

Set whether and when members' points expire

Point Expiration controls how long points stay in members' accounts.

## Where to find it

Settings › General › Point Expiration

## Options

**Never:** points don't expire.

**Rolling:** each point expires a set number of days after it's earned. Enter the **Point Life (Days)**.

**Fixed date:** all points expire on one date. Set **Expire All Points On** (in your site's timezone).

-   At the top of the next hour after saving, every unexpired point moves to the new date, including points that already had a different expiration.
    
-   Points that have already expired stay expired.
    
-   After the date passes, newly earned points don't expire until you set a later date.
    

> **Success:** **Tip:** Season-based programs can roll the fixed date forward at the start of each season.

Click **Save Settings**.

## Changing Options

Switching to **Never** or **Rolling** only affects points earned from then on. Points that already have an expiration date keep it.

> **Info:** **Note:** Expired points are never restored by changing this setting.

## Expiring Points Email

The **Expiring Points** rule emails members who have points expiring in the next month. Turn it on under [Communications › Notification Rules](https://app.fanmaker.com/admin/settings/notification_rules). See [Member Notifications](https://help.fanmaker.com/en/articles/311.md).
