Our lotteries can be viewed here in the admin — Events › Lotteries.
Our lottery feature allows for users to enter to win tickets to attend events. Whether that is to fairly fill your student section each game, or only be used for those high demand, low inventory events, this feature provides a user friendly entry experience. Users can enter to win, transfer their winning ticket, or even cancel their entry or ticket claim. This feature draws winners based on the settings you set, with lots of flexibility including allowing users to enter as a group. Creating a lottery is very easy and more details can be found below!
The list filters by status — All, Upcoming, Open, Pending, and Drawn — and has a search box. Click "New Lottery" to start one.
1. Enter the Title. (Required)
2. Select the Event from the dropdown. (Required) The list holds your upcoming events with their dates.
3. Enter the Description shown to entrants.
1. Set Entries Start and Entries End — the window this lottery is live for entry. (Required)
2. Set Cancelation Start and Cancelation End. (Optional)
3. Set Transfer Start and Transfer End. (Optional)
If you're looking to allow users to cancel but not transfer their ticket after the draw, set the transfer start and end to the same timestamp as the cancel end.
If you're looking to allow users to transfer but not cancel, set the cancel start and end to the same timestamp as the transfer end.
If you do not want to allow either after the draw, you have two options. To keep the lottery card in the pending phase and display additional details, set all four to the same future date and time. To move the card straight to past lotteries, set all four to the same timestamp as Entries End.
1. Enter the Number of Winners to be drawn.
2. Enter the Point Qualification Minimum — the points a user must have available to qualify. Leave it at 0 for no minimum.
3. Choose How should winners be selected?
Weighted by Points — entrants with more points get better odds, but anyone can still win.
Equal Chance — every entrant has the same odds, regardless of points.
Highest Points First — winners are the highest point-holders, in order, with no randomization.
Lowest Points First — winners are the lowest point-holders, in order, with no randomization.
1. If you'd like users to enter together, check Allow Group Entries.
2. Set the Max Group Size. The minimum is 2, and members can enter as any size group from 2 up to that number.
Define the seating sections entrants can request at entry time, shown in the app's seat picker. Each row takes a Section label (e.g. "Lower Bowl 101") and a number of Seats. Leave it empty for no seat selection.
1. Individual Win Message — shown to winners. This should include a description of your ticket fulfillment process.
2. Waitlist Message — shown to users who lost the draw, during your cancel window.
3. Cancel Message, Transfer Message, and Transfer Cancel Message — shown as users cancel or hand off a ticket.
4. With group entries enabled you also get Group Win Message, Group Invite Message, Group Waitlist Message, Group Instructions, and Group Size Error. The invite message is shown after a user enters individually, so it's the place to describe the minimum and maximum group sizes.
5. Official Rules — your terms and conditions, eligibility, age restrictions, and so on.
Emails sent to winning and waitlisted members — individuals and groups — after the draw. Set the Win Message and the Waitlist Message. You can include {{rank}} in the copy.
Consolation Points are awarded to waitlisted members who did not attend. No-Show Penalty Points are deducted from winners who did not attend.
Set the values here, then trigger each one from the lottery's own page after the event ends.
Winner Tags — entrants with these tags automatically win, drawn before the general pool. Set Win on to any of these tags or all of these tags. Leave it blank for an open draw.
Allow users by tag — only members with at least one of these tags can see and enter.
Block users by tag — members with any of these tags can't see or enter. Block overrides allow.
Open a lottery from the list to run it. From that page you can:
Lock and Unlock — block entries and draws for maintenance.
Run Draw — queues ranking and winner selection. It runs in the background and can take up to about 30 minutes; winners appear on the page once it finishes.
Send to Members — notify all participating members. This can only be done once.
Award Consolation Points and Deduct No-Show Points — the post-draw actions you configured above.
