A registration tag is a dropdown on the second page of registration listing the groups a fan can say they belong to. Whichever they pick is applied to them as a tag in your admin, automatically, at the moment they join.
That tag then travels with them. You can filter on it in Members, and target it from sweepstakes, prizes, offers, leaderboards and more — so a single question at sign-up becomes the segmentation you use all season.
Keep the list short and unambiguous — a fan picks one in about two seconds and will not read a long menu.
For colleges, Student, Alumni and General Fan cover most programs. If your program is students only, graduation year works well instead: Freshman, Sophomore, Junior, Senior, or Class of 2029 and so on.

Registration tags are configured by Fanmaker rather than in your admin, because the registration flow has to be wired to store the answer correctly. Email [email protected] with the list of tags you want and we will set them up.
Once fans are tagged, you can see and filter on those tags from Members using the Tags filter.
