Setting Up Stored Value as a Prize Item

When creating a new prize (here in the admin, under Rewards › Prizes), you can set it up to award stored value to the member's account when they redeem it.

Getting Started with Stored Value as a Prize

Don't see the Award Stored Value option?

Award Stored Value is one of the checkboxes in the Fulfillment card on the prize form. If it isn't there, one of two things is true:

1. Feature included, needs activation — if stored value is included in your agreement but the option isn't appearing, we just need to switch it on for you. Reach out to your Fanmaker point of contact or email [email protected].

2. Upgrade required — if stored value isn't currently part of your agreement, contact your Fanmaker point of contact or email [email protected] to learn more about adding it to your program.

Steps to Create a Stored Value Prize

Do this on a new prize. The fulfillment type is chosen when a prize is created and locked afterward, so you can't convert an existing prize into a stored value one. Also note that the award types — Stored Value, Coupon, Membership, Plan, Points — are mutually exclusive: ticking Award Stored Value clears every other selection, Shipping and Pickup included.

1. Follow the standard steps for creating a new prize. Add a Title, Description, image, Total Quantity, and any Redemption Limit (per user) or Available From date you want.

2. In the Cost and Availability card, set the Purchase Method. Use Points is the usual choice, with the point cost in Cost (Points). A card method can be used only if your site has a Stripe account set up with us.

3. In the Fulfillment card, tick Award Stored Value. An Award Stored Value on Redemption section appears beneath it.

4. Enter the Amount ($) — the dollar value added to the member's account when they redeem.

5. Optional: set Expires. Leave it blank for no expiry.

6. Optional: choose a Source bank — which stored value bank this award draws from, for tracking and reporting. Leave it on the default and Fanmaker picks automatically.

7. Write the Fulfillment message the member sees when the credit lands — for example, "$25 has been added to your account! Use it at any concession stand."

8. Finish the rest of the prize form as normal, then click Create Prize.

Note: if you change your mind before saving, the Remove button in the Award Stored Value section clears the credit, with an Undo beside it.

How Fans Use Stored Value

Once a member redeems a stored value prize:

• The dollar amount is added to their account

• They can view their balance in the loyalty app or on their digital wallet pass

• Each fan has a unique QR code identifier that can be scanned at point of sale

• The balance updates in real time as they make purchases

• Fans can add their wallet pass to Apple Wallet or Google Pay for easy access

Reporting and Tracking

• Choosing a Source bank lets you track redemptions per bank for cleaner financial reporting

• Each stored value award keeps its own expiration date

• View fan balances and transaction history through the admin

Tips for Success

Clear communication — make sure your fulfillment message spells out how and where fans can use their stored value.

Expiration dates — use them to create urgency, but give fans a reasonable window to spend what they've earned.
